Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

I've had multiple periods of being too comfortable in the "comfort zone," and each time that happens, I tend to disturb the status quo. Back in 2013, I was doing well in the corporate world in Singapore, and I chose to quit my job and head to the Himalayan mountains to find clarity and perspective.
The same thing happened last year when I ventured into Coaching. Since that time, I've been gradually overcoming my limiting beliefs, one at a time. I wanted to share my journey to motivate you to a) acknowledge your limiting beliefs, b) step out of your comfort zone, and c) explore new opportunities / pursue your passion.

Below, I share a few examples from my life to inspire you to identify your own limiting beliefs and consider how stepping out can lead to growth.
Follow your passion (/upskill)
I've always been good with numbers, which led me to work with models and forecasts in my corporate career. I was in my comfort zone and wanted to try something new, but was procrastinating. I gave excuses to myself:
"I am too old to start."
"What if it doesn't work out?"
Last year, I convinced myself to step out of this shell and decided to flip the script and try out Coaching. I had a strong desire to help people, and have been mentoring juniors all my life. However, I wanted to give the passion some structure, so I enrolled in an International Coaching Federation-approved course. And here I am helping my clients "flip the script" from "I can't / I am a failure" to "I will try again, one step at a time".
Working out in the gym
I used to hate indoor training. I tried it a couple of times, and it never worked. All my training for long-distance hikes was outdoors. Last year, I decided to work with a dedicated trainer - it was expensive but completely worth it. The trainer helped me overcome my limiting belief. Now, I train in the gym by myself and feel good about it. Sometimes, you need an external push to gain momentum - think of it as learning to ride a bicycle, and recollect how hard the first pedal was!
I hope these examples help you take a step back and think about your own limiting beliefs. I'll leave you with a few questions:
What have you wanted to learn (/unlearn)?
What is stopping you from following your passion?
What are your limiting beliefs? How can you "flip the script"?
If you need help answering these questions, you know where to find me!
